Record warm weather, unpredicted droughts, retreating ice caps, rising sea levels and warmer oceans. We know that the climate goes through cycles of change and that these have happened before. However, there is broad international scientific consensus that humans are the main driver of the rapidly increasing changes to the environment we are now seeing.

While humans only make up a very small percentage of the world’s biomass, we have occupied more than half of the Earth’s land surface, mostly for agriculture and livestock. To make space for our activities, we have cut down forests and cleared wildernesses, displacing the flora and fauna that depend on these habitats. Even in our great oceans, which cover over 70 % of the Earth’s surface, overfishing and pollution are harming marine life.

Animals and plants, including birds and marine life, struggle to match the fast pace of events, the process is endangering our wildlife. For humans, droughts, fires and extreme weather are already major threats in many parts of the world.

The European Green Deal

The climate challenge means we need to think outside of the box and find sustainable measures as we head into the future.

According to Our Common Future report, sustainable development is a development that “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.

Traditionally, the responsibility for mitigating climate change has fallen on our governments, with regulations and taxes on emissions etc. But what about businesses and our role in this?
In fact, businesses are essential to reaching our climate goals.

Aim to reach net-zero emissions by 2050

EU has committed ambitious climate and energy targets for 2030 and want to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. With the European Green Deal, the EU plans to make the EU’s economy sustainable by turning climate and environmental challenges into opportunities and making the transition just and inclusive for all.

As an important enabler of the European Green Deal, the EU Taxonomy has been launched. The EU Taxonomy is a classification system, establishing a list of environmentally sustainable economic activities. The aim is to direct investments towards sustainable projects and activities to create security for investors, protect private investors from greenwashing, help companies to plan the transition, mitigate market fragmentation and eventually help shift investments where they are most needed.

The role of innovation and startups

If we want businesses to accelerate the green transformation, startups are key to speeding up innovation and creating disruption.

According to the United Nations (UN) and other experts, artificial intelligence and digital technology could bring a 10-20% reduction in global carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.

Disruptive climate solutions for technology, policy, finance, business models, leadership and capacity building are key to accelerating low-emission and climate-resilient development.

There is a need to foster innovation and entrepreneurship to promote affordable and scalable solutions, enabling us to leapfrog to cleaner, more resilient economies.

Why you should invest in a premium data room:

  • Be prepared
  • Save time
  • Stay in control
  • Secure your data

Giving startups a supporting hand with affordable data rooms

In terms of both time and finances, limited resources are among the myriad challenges faced by startups. At Admincontrol, we see that many of them use our data room solution for performing due diligence in fund-raising processes. However, in the early phases, they often do not prioritize investing in a premium data room. But, using a premium data room for these processes can help startups save time, protect their data and sometimes even increase their chances of success.

To support startups who work with Cleantech, we are offering data rooms at a low cost. This offer is available to all startups that meet the criteria set out in the EU Taxonomy.

In offering low-cost access to our premium data room solution during the first critical phase of their venture, we aim to help support innovative enterprises enabling the world’s transition to a sustainable future.

How Admincontrol work with sustainability

Admincontrol has been working with sustainability for some years now, and this year we are ramping up our focus on environmental sustainability. We are working on reporting our emissions and assessing our daily operations on finding ways to better ourselves. It’s not a job that is done overnight, and for us, it’s important to learn from others as well.
